Two-time Oscar winner Billie Eilish is making headlines again but this time, not because of her music.
After recently sparking debate with comments about meat consumption, the singer is now facing online backlash following the reveal of her new vegan chocolate bar on May 18, 2026.
Many social media users criticized the product as “exploitative” and “elitist,” with some pointing to ongoing child labor issues in the global cocoa industry.
The singer teamed up with German chocolate brand iChoc to release a limited-edition vegan milk chocolate bar. According to Billie, she first discovered the company while visiting a grocery store in Berlin.
The chocolate bar was launched as official merchandise for her newly released 3D concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D).
The product is being sold for $10 at select movie theater screenings in the United States and through her online store.
Images of the packaging quickly spread online after being shared on X on May 18, gaining millions of views within hours.
This is not Billie’s first chocolate collaboration. Back in 2021, she also released the “Happier Than Ever Bar,” an organic and kosher-certified chocolate product tied to her album rollout.

Why Are Fans Criticizing Billie Eilish?
Much of the criticism centers around the ethics of cocoa production.
Some users argued that promoting vegan chocolate while speaking strongly about animal rights ignores the human exploitation issues tied to parts of the cocoa supply chain.
Others accused the singer of hypocrisy, claiming that she criticizes capitalism while simultaneously profiting from celebrity merchandise and branded products.
Another detail that fueled debate online was the packaging disclaimer stating the chocolate “may contain traces of dairy,” which some critics said conflicted with her strong advocacy for veganism.
Social media discussions also questioned whether vegan products marketed by celebrities are accessible to everyone, especially given the relatively high price tag of the chocolate bar.

The backlash follows another recent controversy involving comments Billie made during an interview about food ethics and animal welfare.
In the interview, she reportedly stated that “eating meat is inherently wrong” and argued that people cannot truly love animals while continuing to consume them.
The remarks sparked heated discussions online, with critics saying her views came from a place of privilege and failed to consider cultural and economic differences around the world.
Now, with the release of her vegan chocolate product, online debates surrounding her activism, business ventures, and public image have intensified once again.
